We interviewed major tour operators to find out what underrated travel destinations should be on our radar for next year.

According to the experts at G Adventures Tauck Intrepid Travel, the EF Go and Trafalgar trips are the top secret destinations to add to their 2023 travel bucket list.

1. Bhutan, South Asia

“Bhutan will open the historic Trans-Bhutan Pass by the end of this year after a gap of 60 years. This amazing little country offers beautiful scenery and beautiful local villages to walk through and spirituality is the cradle of the whole concept of national happiness. 2. The Azores, Portugal

The Azores are a hidden gem for America. Not crowded with travelers easy to reach and like Iceland is visually stunning and warm. It’s a very easy walk and some of the most stunning views you can imagine. The food is very good the people are very friendly and the prices are reasonable. 3. Tenerife, Spain

Another destination that everyone should consider is one that Americans don’t frequent. This is Tenerife. Winter is like Florida. United now have direct flights from New York but London Madrid is easily accessible via Paris and Amsterdam. It’s cheap and the island is beautiful. 4. Croatia

Our cruise preparation bill is suitable for those exploring new countries such as Croatia and Greece. Every weekend night of your small sailing group you dock on a different island or a better city. You can dine on the beach, stroll the old town during the day and spend your free time swimming or relaxing on the boat. I was skeptical about sailing adventures until the first one (I’m not a sailor) but I was hooked. 5. Sorrento, Italy

If hiking and sailing aren’t your thing, try living like a local in Italy or Croatia. It is an experience that opens the mind and drowns the senses. Tourists stay in one place (you can drop off your bags!) but explore the area deeper. The hosts make tourists feel like visiting old friends by sharing the environment and culture with them. The accommodations are comfortable and have en suite bathrooms so even if this isn’t your home away from home the atmosphere is intimate and immersive.
